ABSTRACT
The present study evaluated pre-germination treatments on the development and seedling
quality of manzano chili pepper (Capsicum pubescens) under protected agriculture
conditions. A completely randomized design was used with five replications per treatment,
giving a total of twenty experimental units. The treatments were: a control treatment (T1),
and three seed immersion treatments consisting of tap water (T2), distilled water (T3),
and a micronutrient complex (T4). Sowing was carried out in plastic trays using peat
moss as the substrate. The variables evaluated were: plant height, stem diameter, root
volume, and root length. The results showed that for the morphological variables of plant
height and stem diameter, there was no statistical significance, while for quality variables
(root volume and root length), T2 was significant. This indicates that pre-germination
treatments help promote the development and quality of manzano chili seedlings.
Keywords: pre-germination treatments, seedling, variable, experimental design.
